De Beyart, located in the center of Maastricht and a national monument, is a monastery dating back to late 1800 situated in a beautiful large private park. The refurbishment and extension of this nursing home puts forward the ideas of an integral project, connecting the existing complex of the Beyart with the park and the surroundings.

A new diverse program meant for both the inhabitants and the surrounding neighbours turns the park into a place for the city.
The existing monastery courtyard, being covered with a glass roof, becomes the new heart of the complex, providing a variety of public and care functions. A new wing on the west side completes the existing monastery structure and offers additional care units.

New housing pavilions towards the wall on the north of the site fill in the existing urban structure and create a respectful living environment inside the park.
