As a self-sufficient, energy saving and eco-friendly city, centred on design and culture, the future new town of Geomdan ambitions to become a centre of the northwestern metropolitan area where industry, academia, and research networks are established.
In this context, the Incheon Museum Library will stand as a key landmark providing the citizen with a meaningful public amenity generated from the harmonious association of nature and culture.
The building is conceived as a living bridge, physically linking the north and south ecobridges by a generous green roof, and symbolically restoring the continuity of the surrounding mountains.
Under this unique ecological infrastructure is sheltered an open and inviting cultural and educational hub for the residents and visitors of the complex.
The simple shape of the building is meant to create an iconic yet integrated addition to the park and the cityscape. Above unfolds the ecological continuum of nature, below streams the flow of the city and its inhabitants.
